Our Story

Where children have
always led the way.

For over two decades, one belief has guided everything we do: that children learn best when they are known, trusted, and free to wonder. Here is how that belief becomes a day, a year, a childhood.

A Message from Our Founder
"A child is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be lit. Our work is simply to protect the spark — and feed it."
Mrs. Ramona Pulle · Founder, The American Preschool

In 2002, I came back to Sri Lanka on a long break — a mother of two young children, full of hope, looking for a preschool. What I found broke my heart a little.

Three Pillars

What we believe,
made real.

Child-Led Discovery
01

Child-Led Discovery

We follow the child.

Curiosity is the most powerful teacher a child will ever have. Rather than marching every child through the same lesson at the same hour, we watch closely, listen carefully, and build the day around what genuinely fascinates them.

Educators observe and document each child's emerging interests
Provocations and materials are set out to invite, never to instruct
Children choose where, how, and with whom they learn
Mistakes are treated as discoveries, not failures

The EduPlay Curriculum

Play is the work of childhood.

Our signature EduPlay framework dissolves the false line between playing and learning. Literacy, numeracy, science, and social skills are woven into rich, purposeful play — so children master real skills without ever feeling they're in a classroom.

Structured learning goals hidden inside open-ended play
Hands-on literacy and numeracy through stories and games
Daily music, movement, art, and outdoor exploration
Progress tracked through observation, not testing

Whole-Child Wellbeing

A safe heart learns best.

Before a child can read or count, they must feel safe, seen, and valued. We tend to emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth with equal devotion — because a confident, settled child is one who is ready for the whole world.

Small groups and consistent, familiar educators
Daily rhythms that build security and belonging
Emotional vocabulary taught from the very first day
Partnership with families at every step
Principles That Guide Us

Six quiet commitments.

We have spent over two decades studying, refining, and deeply believing in one thing: that the early years matter more than most people realise. What happens between birth and six doesn’t just prepare a child for school — it shapes the kind of human they become. That is what we are here for.

Every child is known

We take the time to understand who your child truly is — their personality, their pace, their strengths, and what makes them light up. That knowledge shapes everything we do.

Relationships first

Children learn best when they feel safe and trusted. We invest deeply in the relationships between child, educator, and family — because that foundation is where real growth begins.

Wonder alongside structure

We honour both the joy of childhood and the importance of building strong foundations. Our children explore, create, and think — and they also read, write, and problem-solve. We do both, and we do both well.

Independence, gently grown

We guide children toward doing things for themselves — building confidence through small, real achievements every single day. We do with, not for.

The world as classroom

Gardens, kitchens, outdoor spaces, and real-world experiences sit alongside intentional, structured learning. Because the richest education happens when both work together.

Families as partners

You know your child best. We know early childhood. Together, we create something neither of us could alone — a continuous, connected story of your child’s growth.

See It For Yourself

The best way to understand us is to feel it.

Words can only carry so much. Visit a centre, watch a morning unfold, and see what a child-centred day truly looks like.
